Laser Hair Removal
Permanent laser hair reduction is typically performed on the face, legs, underarms, arms, and bikini area; and, for men, on the chest and back. Our Cutera® CoolGlide laser provides safe and fast treatment for permanent hair reduction in all skin types (I-VI), including tanned and dark skin. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required over several months.
Vascular Laser Therapy
Discrete blood vessels, such as spider veins on the legs, can be treated effectively and safely with lasers. Before laser therapy, Dr. Oliva-Custic and the DermIDEA team carefully assess the skin type and the depth, size, and location of veins to be treated. The best treatment results are obtained when combined with compression stockings after treatment.
Compression therapy helps move blood from the extremities to the heart and can improve circulation for many conditions and situations:
The DermIDEA clinic sells both fashion compression socks and running compression socks.
Stretch Mark Treatment
Stretch marks are a form of scarring on the skin that occurs after the skin expands. Our physician can consult on the best treatment options for both red or white stretch marks. For example, microneedling of the skin can encourage new collagen growth. Typically, multiple microneedling sessions provide optimal results in combination with topical treatments
Limelight, an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) machine, can improve uneven skin tone on the hands and reduce brown sunspots. Our physician can consult on other options to rejuvenate hands, such as micro-needling and filler injections.
Nail Fungus Treatment
Nail fungal disease is a common skin condition that results in abnormal nails. Symptoms can include discoloured, yellow, thickened nails, and debris buildup under the nails. Common sources of infection are public pools, gyms, and traditional nail spas. Our Cutera® CoolGlide laser can help create clear nails for patients with nail fungus (onychomycosis). Our doctor can also advise on oral and topical treatments for the best nail fungus elimination.
Skin Tag, Wart, and Seborrheic Keratoses Treatment
Benign growths on the skin include skin tags, warts, and seborrheic keratoses, which are commonly known as “age warts.” These growths often occur in areas of friction or irritation such as the collar area, armpits, back, and chest, and can be itchy. Treatment options include cryotherapy and electrocautery.
Our physician can provide a plan for scar treatment. Kenalog injections can flatten scars, such as keloids. Other options include microneedling, cryotherapy, fillers, and prescription products to reduce scarring from acne or trauma, and to rejuvenate the skin.
Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) Treatment
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition where overactive sweat glands produce excessive sweating in areas such as the armpits, hands, feet, and face. Sweating does not need to cause suffering or affect daily life: treatment is available. Botox® (Therapeutic) injections are available for treatment by a licensed, qualified physician and can provide symptom relief for an average of seven months. Botox® (Therapeutic) is a prescription drug, and all patients must be assessed to ensure that injections are the best treatment option.
